The Ivory Oak : Austin, TX Wedding Venue

When I pulled up into the drive of the Ivory Oak, I really was struck by just how beautiful this property is. It's in Wimberly, TX nestled among oak and cedars, a true Texas hill country dream. If it isn't on your list of Austin wedding venues to tour, it needs to be!

The Ivory Oak offers so many options for a wedding day. When you drive up you'll see the largest building, the reception hall, right in the forefront. It's big, white, and the perfect space for a gorgeous reception. The windows let in plenty of natural, beautiful light and the large front doors make for the most grand entrance you could imagine. Just take a look at Stephanie and James making their grand entrance here! The indoor space is all white, which as a wedding photographer is a DREAM for me because it gives the photos a light and airy look every time. But more importantly, all white means that whatever colors you choose to use or decor you have for the space it is going to coordinate perfectly!

Next to the reception hall is the Cellar, where many couples choose to host their cocktail hour but can also be used as a ceremony or reception space! They have plenty of room to host your smaller reception, complete with a bar area, hall, and garage style windows that are fully functional and can let in the Texas hill country breeze. Stephanie and James had to move their wedding date to August because of Covid and the Cellar was the perfect spot for guests to enjoy some air conditioning prior to the ceremony, and then after during the cocktail hour. We even used the space for the guests who were in photos and the wedding party! They just popped in and out to beat the afternoon heat that comes with our beloved hot Texas sun.

If you walk past the Cellar and Reception hall, you'll walk straight into a grove of beautiful oak trees and notice first that the sun hits the grove JUST RIGHT. This is so valuable to have in your venue because it means that no matter the time of day you are going to get phenomenal photos. Just pick a spot and let their in house florist, Native Bloom Floral, work their magic!! Throughout the Howey's wedding day we utilized the grove at various times and every moment seemed better than the last. I am truly impressed with just how versatile this Austin TX wedding venue is!! Just check out the photos below, each one was taken at a different time and different location in the grove...just WOW.

From the photo above you can see they have built a gorgeous limestone staircase leading up to the bridal cottage. The bridal suite on the property is the STUFF. OF. DREAMS. It is a two room cottage complete with a full bathroom and plenty of space to get ready in. For the Howey wedding, Stephanie utilized the front room for gifts and portraits and the back room for hair and make-up. The front porch of the cottage offers even more charm to add to your getting ready portraits or even your bridals. The photos on the porch turned out brilliantly.

Ivory Oak truly is the perfect venue if you are looking for something that couples a modern, classic feel with the rustic charm of the Texas Hill Country. The location is just breathtaking and the venue owners have hit the nail on the head in making this oak grove feel elegant, timeless, and perfect for a wedding day any time of the year.
